Mars Rover

Students are currently working on preparing for the Mars Rover Competition. This challenge requires them to design and construct a Mars Rover to navigate the challenging Martian terrain by following the Engineering Design Process. Invent Idaho

Students will follow the engineering design process in order to solve a problem. For those that have done Invent Idaho in the past, there will be a few changes this year. One change is that students will be using a spiral bound notebook instead of a 3 ring binder. Keeping record of the invention process in a spiral bound notebook will help students if they choose to patent their idea. The other big change that we are making is focusing on brainstorming multiple solutions instead of multiple problems. In class, we will work on developing at least five unique solutions to a problem and then choosing the top solution based upon our design criteria, prototypes and tests, and feedback from our target customers. The goal is to design and create an invention that is well thought out and solves a problem!
